The Government of Tamil Nadu has given Anna University the authority to administer the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) for admissions to M.B.A, M.C.A, and M.E./M.Tech./M.Arch./M.Plan. degree programs available in colleges throughout Tamil Nadu. Approximately 60,000 students compete for the 60 seats offered through this exam.

TANCET Exam Pattern 2025 The table below outlines the TANCET 2025 exam pattern for MBA and MCA courses offered by the participating institutes:

  • TANCET MBA sections: 5 (Business Situations, Reading Comprehension, Quantitative Ability, Data Sufficiency, and English Usage)
  • TANCET MCA sections: 4 (Quantitative Aptitude, Analytical Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, Computer Awareness)
  • Section-wise question weightage (MBA): 20 per section
  • Section-wise question weightage (MCA): 25 per section
  • Duration of test: 2 hours
  • Marks per correct response: +1 mark
  • Negative marks: -1/4 for each incorrect response
  • Medium: English

  • Age Limit: There is no specific age limit to appear for TANCET/CEETA-PG 2024.
  • Academic Qualifications: Candidates must have completed their B.Tech/B.E. from a recognized institute in the relevant field. Candidates who have completed 10+2+AMIE or 10+3 years diploma (awarded by the State Board of Technical Education) + AMIE are also eligible.
  • Qualifying Marks: Students must have secured a minimum of 50% in the qualifying exam, while reserved category candidates must secure at least 45%.
  • Domicile: Other state candidates are eligible to apply, provided they meet the eligibility criteria.
  • GATE Qualification: Candidates with a valid GATE score must also appear for TANCET/CEETA-PG 2024.

Note: Candidates who are currently in their final semester (April/May 2024) can also participate in TANCET 2024. This condition does not apply to AMIE candidates.

Who is not eligible for TANCET 2024? To avoid any confusion regarding the TANCET/CEETA-PG 2024 eligibility criteria, the following candidates are not eligible:

  • Candidates who have not obtained their B.Tech/B.E degree.
  • Candidates who have obtained their degree without completing 10th, 12th, or a 3-year degree program.
