The NEET exam is held for admission to undergraduate medical courses (MBBS/BDS) in government or private medical/dental colleges approved by the Medical Council of India/Dental Council of India. Initially conducted by CBSE, the exam has been administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA) since 2019. Approximately 541 MBBS colleges (excluding AIIMS and JIPMER) participate in NEET, offering around 82,926 medical seats. In 2023, 20,87,462 students took the NEET exam.
