The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) has been a leading global entrance exam for business schools for over 50 years. The GMAT Focus Edition, created by GMAC, is designed to assess the contemporary skills that are crucial for success in graduate management programs.

Business schools use GMAT scores along with other factors such as your undergraduate academic performance, essays, work experience, and recommendations to evaluate your preparedness for the advanced quantitative and analytical tasks in their programs.

While you are not expected to have mastered advanced material yet—that's what the program will teach you—the GMAT helps schools gauge whether your foundational skills are strong enough for you to succeed in their program.

Exam Features

The GMAT offers several features to enhance your testing experience and provides flexible score reporting options.

  • Question Review & Edit: This feature allows you to review and modify your answers later in each section. You can bookmark questions to revisit and make changes as needed. Here’s how it works:
    • Bookmark questions for later review as you progress through the section.
    • After answering all questions in a section, you will access the Question Review & Edit screen, unless you run out of time, in which case you'll be directed to the break screen or the next section.
    • The Question Review & Edit screen lists all questions and highlights the ones you bookmarked.
    • You can review and edit up to three answers per section.
  • Select Section Order: You can choose the order in which you answer the three sections and take the optional 10-minute break at any point: after the first or second section. This flexibility allows you to tailor the exam to your preparation and maximize your performance.
  • Flexible Score Sending: After the exam, you can decide which schools receive your free score reports, based on your actual performance. This allows you to focus on taking the test without worrying about score distribution beforehand.
  • Detailed Results Delivered Quickly: Within 1-3 days* of completing the exam, you will receive a comprehensive Official Score Report that includes insights into your performance, such as:
    • Performance by section
    • Performance by program and school
    • Performance by content domain, question type, and skills
    • Time management
