Eligibility Criteria

The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducts the IBPS Clerk Exam annually to recruit clerical cadres in various banks across India. Aspiring candidates who wish to join any of the participating banks as a Clerk or in a similar position must register for the Common Recruitment Process (CRP Clerks -XI).

IBPS exams provide a great opportunity for those aiming to enter the banking sector in India. IBPS Clerk Educational Qualification

Candidates intending to apply for the IBPS Clerk exam must have:

  • A degree (Graduation) in any discipline from a University recognized by the Government of India or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government.
  • A valid Mark-sheet/Degree Certificate confirming graduation status on the day of registration, with the percentage of marks obtained in Graduation indicated during online registration.
  • Computer Literacy: Operating and working knowledge in computer systems is mandatory. Candidates should have a Certificate/Diploma/Degree in computer operations/Language or should have studied Computer/Information Technology as a subject in High School/College/Institute.
  • Proficiency in the Official Language of the State/UT for which vacancies are applied, including the ability to read, write, and speak the language, is preferable.
  • Ex-Servicemen must be matriculated or have obtained the Army Special Certificate of Education or a corresponding certificate in the Navy or Air Force after completing at least 15 years of service as of 27.10.2022, with certificates dated on or before 27.10.2022.

IBPS Clerk Qualification Based on Nationality/Citizenship

Candidates must be one of the following:

  • A Citizen of India, or
  • A subject of Nepal, or
  • A subject of Bhutan, or
  • A Tibetan Refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India, provided a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.

IBPS Clerk Qualification Based on Age Limit

The age requirements for the IBPS Clerk exam are as follows:

  • Minimum age: 20 years
  • Maximum age: 28 years

Note: For IBPS Clerk Vacancies of 2023-24, candidates must have been born not earlier than 02.07.1994 and not later than 01.07.2002 (both dates inclusive). The notification also specifies upper age limits for various categories:
